Hi, I'm Nia. I build cloud systems, AI tools and open-source software.

I'm a Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase, where I move critical applications to AWS and build the data pipelines behind ML and AI models. Outside work I ship my own products, like Lamplight Audio, an open-source app that turns any EPUB into an audiobook.

Lamplight Audio on a phone

Lamplight Audio

Upload an EPUB and listen to it as an audiobook in your phone's browser. Each chapter is narrated once by AI, cached, then streamed or downloaded as an MP3. Built for listening at night with the screen locked.

  • Strips author's notes and summaries before narration, tuned against real AO3 downloads
  • Three TTS providers (OpenAI, Kokoro, ElevenLabs) with per-chapter voices and a monthly budget cap
  • Background narration that keeps going after the tab closes, with pause, resume and a queue
  • Lock-screen controls, sleep timer, resume and HTTP Range streaming for iOS Safari
  • Self-host with Docker or deploy to Vercel with Cloudflare R2 storage

    • Led the migration of 4 applications and a data product to AWS, cutting operating costs by 30%.
    • Modernized 12 critical applications in React, Node.js and Java Spring Boot for a 40% performance gain.
    • Manage 200+ AWS resources (Lambda, ECS, EKS, RDS, KMS) as Terraform infrastructure as code.

About me

I studied Management Information Systems at UT Austin's McCombs School of Business, and I've been building ever since: first my own startups, then five years of enterprise cloud and data engineering at JPMorgan Chase.

I like work that sits between the business and the code. That means figuring out what people actually need, then building it end to end, from the database schema and infrastructure to the screen someone taps on their phone at night.
